Maddi & Javier

Our story

Maddi's Little Kitchen began with homemade tequeños, a love for cooking, and an unexpected opportunity.

I'm Maddi, a Venezuelan living in Traverse City, Michigan. Cooking has always been one of my favorite ways to show love and bring people together. Sharing food with family and friends is about more than preparing a meal—it's about making people feel welcome and creating memories around the table.

In July 2025, my husband, Javier, brought some of my homemade tequeños to share with his coworkers. They loved them and began asking if they could order more. Their enthusiasm encouraged me to take that first step, turning something I loved doing into a small business. That's how Maddi's Little Kitchen was born.

What started with tequeños has grown into a menu celebrating the flavors of Venezuela, with arepas, empanadas, and other comforting favorites. Through farmers markets, local events, and pop-ups, I've had the opportunity to share a little piece of my home with the Northern Michigan community.

For me, this business is about sharing my roots, introducing people to Venezuelan food, and offering the same warmth I would to someone sitting at my own kitchen table. Whether you grew up with these flavors or are trying them for the first time, I hope every bite gives you something to enjoy and remember.

Thank you for supporting our small family business and being part of our story.

Made with love, served with joy.
